Sean Malto - Nosegrinds down 15 stair rail

Incredible nosegrind by Sean Malto down 15 stair

First up is every one's favorite skateboarder Sean Malto, carrying out a nosegrind down a mellow 15 stair in St. Louis. I was on a trip with Ty Evans, Stevie Perez, Justin Eldridge, Chris Roberts and obviously Malto. We drove from Kansas City to St. Louis to meet up with Randy Ploesser. Randy took us to some gnarly rails but nothing meet anyones fancy until this big boy. This rail is at a school so we came back at night and lit the whole thing up. I don’t know if you’ve ever tried to nosegrind anything really long before but let me explain what happens. It’s really hard/scary to stand up straight and center your weight so you can make it the distance. If your board slips then you go falling to your chest. That’s why a lot of people lean out of that trick. That’s besides the point. So Malto was having some difficulty keeping his weight centered. He attempted it for a little while. Then it began sprinkling which was bad. Much like the adrenaline you can get when you are getting kicked out from a spot and you've got just one more try. The exact same thing was happening right here with the battle against the bad weather. Malto literally had one final attempt before everything was too slick.

Allow me to get off on a tangent here real quick. Malto and rain don't mix well. When he was a youngster he was attempting a trick into this empty swimming pool in Kansas City. It began pouring down rain but he kept trying. He stuck on the nollie big spin heelflip, I do believe it was, and he ended up slipping out and slamming his face and teeth on the ground. He knocked out a couple teeth and lodged a few more into the roof of his mouth. He had to go to the hospital and the whole nine yards. It was gnarly! So my point of telling you this, is when something like that happens you don’t forget it. When Malto sees rain I’m sure that’s one of the very first thought that goes through his mind. For him to be able to pull off this nosegrind is not only a gnarly trick but also a gnarly mental overcoming.

Returning to the trick at hand. Malto nailed this nosegrind just moments before it down poured on us. It was a miracle we were able to get everything in the van before we were drenched. This photo is in our newest issue. Look closely when you have it infront of you because you’ll be able to see the rain drops in the upper left side where Malto is. Good stuff as always Sean!

Learn beginning skateboarding tips

How to skateboard for beginners

Skateboarding looks simple enough to do. Just a couple shoves using your feet and you're skating! However, watching it and actually doing it are two entirely different things. It's a sport that requires a lot of practice. If you can learn how to stay on the board pretty quickly, consider everything else you can do? How about all those extreme tricks you've seen other people do? But don't allow it to get you down simply because you can't do 360's on a half pipe ramp. Hello, all skateboarders were forced to start somewhere! Let's discuss several steps you can take to get up to speed quicker.

Okay, initially – there's a much more to just pushing your self off and moving. When you're pushing-off you'll have to have a smooth, comfortable, and fluent movements. Attempt to prevent a motion that may be way too fast and way too short.

Use long, strong, powerful motions when you're pushing-off. Thus giving you much more power, additionally you'll be able to recover better should you lose balance. This motion really should be enough to get your board rolling pretty swiftly. The way you push off will be based a great deal on your stance. If you're new to skating, it's a smart idea to stick to flat ground skateboarding tricks, and use a skateboard that's well-made and durable. It's best if you can firmly plant your feet without fumbling around if you're on an bumpy surface. Soon enough, while you continue to improve this can be less important.

Turning is all about holding your balance while shifting the weight of your body. But that doesn't mean you're leaning with your whole body to the front or back. So you'll want to shift your weight by shifting from flat-footed to either heel/ball of your feet. You don't want to be swaying, stay upright on the board. If you lean or sway too much you may fall. Practice turning on a flat, even and uncrowded area. Then practice with wide/gentle turns first before attempting sharp turns. When you're comfortable with that, practice lifting the board front just a hair so you can do a sharp turn.

It really is best to learn how to do skateboarding tricks just one at a time, and learn them slowly. Get the basics down good before moving on to tricks. Until finally you get the basics, don't be jumping big or try to kickflip the stairs. Begin with smaller ramp and then change directions. Ollying on a skateboard with adjustments in direction. Before trying dangerous tricks, get the easier tricks down. Learn tricks slowly and practice before you try something you actually aren't ready for.
